1, 2, 3… chug! Seriously?!

Chugging and other drinking games involve drinking a large amount of alcohol very fast. It’s often a kind of contest or a challenge in a bar, and it can be done with or without spectators.

A dangerous game

Sometimes people set challenges for each other or engage in drinking contests or “games” that involve alcohol. These activities can quickly turn dangerous, because drinking a large amount of alcohol in a short time can cause serious intoxication, which can lead to loss of consciousness, coma, and even death.

When you need to call emergency services

If you’re worried for a friend, don’t hesitate to call for help (Poison Control Centre, 911, or Info-Santé 811) or quickly alert an adult. You might be tempted to wait and see if your friend will get better or afraid that your parents will find out you’ve been drinking. But if your friend is in danger, he/she needs help right away.

In short, drinking games may be in fashion and may give you a feeling (for a moment) that you’re popular, but they’re just not worth it.

This is a dangerous game that can cause serious intoxication and put your life or a friend’s in real danger.
