Objective of the Report

This report, presented by Tel-jeunes to Quebec's Ministry of Families, was prepared as part of the consultation process for the development of the next Joint Action Plan to Prevent and Combat Bullying and Cyberbullying. It highlights the importance of focusing on the experiences, perspectives, and real needs of adolescents to actively address bullying and cyberbullying among youth.

Based on consultations with young people and evidence-based data, the report sheds light on the prevalence of the issue and its harmful effects on the mental health of young individuals.

Combating Bullying and Cyberbullying

  • Emphasize and encourage help-seeking by reassuring adolescents about confidentiality and raising awareness about available resources.

  • Implement protective and inclusive measures for the most vulnerable groups, such as LGBTQ+ youth.

  • Address bullying with seriousness, moving away from humorous campaigns that may downplay the severity of the issue.

  • Consult, listen to, and involve young people in developing solutions and prevention strategies.

The report advocates for a collaborative approach involving adolescents, schools, and youth support organizations to create a safe and nurturing environment for everyone.
